The motorway concessionaire Cintra and the Polish construction firm Budimex, both subsidiaries of Ferrovial, have emerged as the preferred bidders in the multi-million tender for the Czech D35 motorway. They were up against consortia led by the Spanish firm FCC (with Meridiam and Metrostav) and the French firm Vinci (in partnership with Abdrn and John Laing). The new section of motorway put out to tender by the Czech Ministry of Transport was valued at 71.32 trillion Czech koruna (2.9 billion euros) under a public-private partnership model.
This latest success for Ferrovial, this time in Europe, follows the firm award of the US I-24 motorway in Tennessee, worth 34,000 million dollars (30,205 million euros), and at a time when the group is competing for the I-285 in Atlanta (Georgia), with valuations in excess of 10,000 million dollars (8,885 million euros).
