Ferrovial has given fresh impetus to its energy business in the United States with an agreement that will enable it to supply, for 15 years, part of the output from its future Milano Solar photovoltaic plant, located in Milam County, Texas, to meet the decarbonisation targets of Toyota Motor North America.
The transaction is being facilitated by Constellation Energy, which has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with the project developed by Ferrovial Energy. The contract covers more than 115 MW of solar capacity and an estimated annual output of approximately 246,000 MWh, equivalent to 246 GWh. constellationenergy.com
This capacity forms part of Milano Solar, a facility that will have a total capacity of 203.97 MW. Ferrovial expects the plant to commence commercial operation in September 2027.
At the same time, Toyota has signed a 15-year renewable energy agreement with Constellation. The car manufacturer will not directly receive the electricity produced by the farm, but rather the renewable energy certificates — known as RECs — associated with Milano Solar’s generation.
