Acciona Energía commissions two wind farms in Croatia

Acciona Energía has brought the 27-megawatt (MW) Opor and 45-MW Boraja II wind farms in Croatia into commercial operation, and they have begun supplying electricity to the national grid via Hrvatski Operator Trzista Energije (Hrote), the Croatian energy market operator.

The Opor wind farm is situated in the Split-Dalmatia region and comprises six wind turbines, whilst Boraja II is located in Šibenik-Knin and consists of ten, according to a company statement. Both wind farms use 4.5 MW turbines from Nordex, the German wind turbine manufacturer in which Acciona holds a stake, fitted with 105-metre-high steel towers.

Both projects are linked to 12-year contracts for difference, awarded through a public auction as part of a programme promoted by the Croatian Government and Hrote, and approved by the European Commission.
